In the initial two collages, the original photo booth image was taken during the 1960's, coinciding with the vibrant era of the Pop art movement. I aimed to encapsulate the aesthetic of the time through this piece. Drawing inspiration from the bold colours and contrasts of Pop art, I sought to evoke the dynamic energy and culture of the 1960s in these compositions.
The final 3 collages are passport photos capturing my Zio's transformation from childhood to adolescence during the 1980s and 1990s. I intended to show the progression of time and age through pop art style. Through the vibrant colours and bold contrasts, I aimed to visually convey the stages of growth and maturation.
I like the repetition of imagery in the grid structure as the repetition could convey the idea of shared experiences, memories, and traditions passed down through generations. It can also represent the passing down of traits, values, and cultural heritage from each generation and reflects the continuity of lineage and familial traits over time.
