I was initially drawn to the plain white cut-outs as a way to symbolise loss. I then reworked these images in monochrome, replacing the empty spaces with photographs from my Nonna’s life. The shift to black and white reflects the feeling darkness that followed her passing, while the memories filling those spaces honour the light and colour she brought into our lives.
