Initially, I began with a photo booth picture of my grandparents (Captured, 2023), but the resulting image, turned out excessively dark during the process. Therefore, I opted for a brighter image for ‘Green Tinted Memories,’ as there were fewer shadows in which I believe achieved a better outcome in preserving the cherished memory.
'Green Tinted Memories' creates an impression of a glitch in time. The deliberate repetition of screen prints throughout the piece, paired with the final print that manifests a glitch, conveys the idea that a specific memory is caught in an endless loop of reiteration.
The repetition serves as a visual metaphor for the persistent nature of certain memories, the sort of memory you replay in your mind. Each print contributes to a continuous replaying of the memory, emphasising its significance. The inclusion of a glitch in the final print disrupts the otherwise orderly repetition, suggesting a distortion in the flow of recollection.
The green tint signifies a nostalgic overlay, reinforcing the idea that these memories are viewed through a lens tinted with emotion, giving it an ethereal quality that blurs the lines between reality and sentiment.
