This diptych explores the theme of duality. Each painting is intended to stand alone, but together they invite reflection on how faith and identity can be both separate and interconnected. The physical space between the works encourages the viewer to move between them, reflecting the way we navigate our relationships with faith.
I chose to paint my sister twice, adopting a different religious gesture and expression, to explore how religious identity is multifaceted and shaped by both internal emotion and external representation. This dual portrayal invites viewers to consider the complexity of faith as it exists in real people, rather than solely idealised figures.
